PALEA (Pacific Asia Lift and Escalator Association) Membership Information

Membership is open to all organisations registered and carrying out business in the Asia Pacific region within the lift and escalator industry. This includes National code writing bodies, National lift associations, lift and escalator manufacturers, component manufacturers, consultants and architects. Three levels of membership have been included in the constitution to cater for all needs. We actively encourage all associated with the industry to join, as a rich cross section of members will ensure that the Association has sufficient influence to meet its objectives.

The association was formed to serve the needs of the lift and escalator industry in the Asia Pacific region and stands as an influential single industry voice for the region, a forum to bring about unifying and beneficial change. PALEA encourages harmonisation of codes and standards and promotes safety throughout the industry. The association is a ‘D’ member of ISO and is represented on number of working groups associated with the ISO/TC178 technical committee.

Objectives

The objectives of the Association are to provide a neutral forum for all organisations within the lift and escalator industry operating in the Asia Pacific region;

to harmonise standards and codes in the region,
to provide assistance to organisations developing codes and standards,
to ensure that the needs of this region are clearly communicated to both National and International bodies,
to promote safety and the good name of the industry with respect to the user, owner and technician,
to assist companies with the interpretation of codes and standards and
to raise the level of competence and understanding in the industry.

Ordinary Members

Any organisation operating in the Asia Pacific region as a manufacturer, direct importer or distributor of lifts and escalators with adequate design, installation and maintenance capabilities is eligible to apply for admission as an Ordinary Member. Organisations with multiple entities operating in the region shall be eligible for only one Ordinary Membership, however special conditions apply to joint ventures. Refer to the constitution for details. Ordinary members are able to;

Elect the members of the Management Committee
Serve on the Management Committee
Attend and participate in PALEA annual and general membership meetings.
Attend information seminars held by PALEA throughout the Region
Participate as members of standing committees.

Access all information presentations made by association
Access PALEA codes and standards comparisons
Access PALEA statistics and historical records.
Receive PALEA industry communications and general information.

Ordinary members are subject to a S$10,000.00 joining fee and annual membership fees of S$2,500.00.

Associate Members

Any organisation associated with the lift and escalator industry including architects, consulting engineers, quantity surveyors, components manufacturers and national lift/elevator associations are eligible as Associate members. Associate members are able to;

Attend and participate in PALEA annual and general membership meetings.
Attend information seminars held by PALEA throughout the Region
Participate as members of standing committees.

Access to all information presentations made by association
Access PALEA codes and standards comparisons
Access PALEA statistics and historical records.
Receive PALEA industry communications and general information.

Associate members are subject to a S$2,500.00 joining fee and annual membership fees of S$1,000.00.

Honorary Members

Statutory or similar bodies in the Region responsible for the drafting and overseeing of lift and escalator codes or standards are eligible to join as Honorary Members. Honorary members are able to;

Attend and participate in PALEA annual and general membership meetings.
Attend information seminars held by PALEA throughout the Region
Participate as members of standing committees.

Access all information presentations made by association
Access PALEA codes and standards comparisons
Access PALEA statistics and historical records.
Receive PALEA industry communications and general information.

This is no joining or annual fees associated with Honorary membership and Honorary Members are provided one return economy fare air ticket plus all associated accommodation and travel costs to attend the annual general meeting.

Organisations wishing to join PALEA are invited to complete and submit the online membership application form. All applications will be processed by the Management committee as expeditiously as possible.

Protecting your privacy is important to us. We do not sell or exchange names or other personally identifying information about our members. However by requesting a Membership you hereby authorize PALEA from time to time to send e-mail or fax information to all registered Member(s).
